Ovens cook differently depending on rack position, pan type, and whether convection is used. Start checking early and adjust as needed.

⏲️ How to Use This Calculator

Use this Air Fryer to Oven Conversion Calculator when you have air fryer directions but want to cook the recipe in a traditional oven. Enter the air fryer temperature and time, choose the food type, and the calculator will estimate the oven temperature and cook time.

  1. Enter the air fryer temperature listed in the recipe.
  2. Add the original air fryer cook time in hours and minutes.
  3. Choose General, Baked Goods, or Proteins / Thick Foods.
  4. Use the calculated oven temperature and time as a starting point.
  5. Start checking early, especially the first time you convert a recipe.

Tip: This converter lets you switch between general foods, baked goods, and proteins because not every food converts the same way. Baked goods usually need a gentler temperature adjustment, while proteins and thick foods should be checked with a thermometer instead of relying only on time.

📈 Air Fryer to Oven Conversion Chart

Air fryers cook with fast-moving hot air in a small space, so recipes often use less time than they would in a full-size oven. Use this chart as a starting point, then check your food early and adjust based on browning, texture, and internal temperature.

The charts below show common air fryer temperatures and cook times converted for the oven. The general estimate follows the same conversion logic as the calculator, while the baked goods and protein estimates use a slightly different adjustment for foods that are more sensitive to texture or internal temperature.

How to Convert Air Fryer Recipes to the Oven

General Foods

  1. For general foods, divide the air fryer temperature by 0.9 and round to the nearest 5°F.
  2. For general foods, divide the air fryer cook time by 0.8.

Baked Goods

  1. For baked goods, add 25°F.
  2. Use a time range of about 25% to 33% longer than the air fryer time.

Proteins

  1. For proteins and thicker foods, add 25°F and increase the time by about 25%.
  2. Use a thermometer for meat and poultry rather than relying solely on time.

Start checking early the first time you convert a recipe.

For example, if an air fryer recipe says to cook at 400°F for 20 minutes, a general oven estimate is 445°F for about 25 minutes. For baked goods, a better starting point is usually 425°F for about 25 to 27 minutes.

What Food Type Should You Choose?

Choose General for frozen foods, vegetables, fries, snacks, and most everyday recipes. Choose Baked Goods for muffins, biscuits, cookies, cakes, quick breads, and other recipes where browning and texture are sensitive. Choose Proteins for chicken, pork, beef, fish, and thicker foods where internal temperature matters.

Important Cooking Notes

These conversions are estimates. A full-size oven has more space, slower preheating, and different airflow than an air fryer. Pan type, rack position, food thickness, and whether your oven uses convection can all change the final cook time. For thick proteins, especially poultry and pork, use a food thermometer to verify a perfect internal temperature.
