- 1 15 oz can pumpkin puree
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- ⅔ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 cup sugar brown sugar for richer flavor
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp ground clove
- 1 tbsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper powder
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
Combine all ingredients into medium sauce pan over medium-high heat
Bring the mixture to a light boil and then simmer on medium heat
The sauce will be quite thick from the pumpkin puree so be sure to stir intermittently to prevent burning on the bottom of the pan
Allow the mixture to simmer for 20-30 minutes or until it has reached a desirable thickness
Remove from heat and transfer to a mason jar, let the flavors develop overnight in the fridge before serving
