Pumpkin Spice BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz can pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 cup sugar brown sugar for richer flavor
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp ground clove
  • 1 tbsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients into medium sauce pan over medium-high heat
  • Bring the mixture to a light boil and then simmer on medium heat
  • The sauce will be quite thick from the pumpkin puree so be sure to stir intermittently to prevent burning on the bottom of the pan
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 20-30 minutes or until it has reached a desirable thickness
  • Remove from heat and transfer to a mason jar, let the flavors develop overnight in the fridge before serving
